March, 2001	-Conclusion of research contract with Toshiba Co. Ltd. for the “Development of DNA tips”
April, 2001	-Conclusion of contract for research and development with the four domestic companies, the stockholders of AGENE
November, 2001	-Conclusion of the contract with AGENE for the priority to use patents
	-Adoption of a large government fund of 5 years for the prevention of C-type hepatitis and hepatic carcinoma
	-Taking over the project of ubiquitin-related research and development from UP Science
August, 2002	-Exhibition of “the e-Chip prototype apparatus” in the first Bio Expo Japan in cooperation with Toshiba Co. Ltd.
March, 2003	-Awarded a prize of Japan Bioindustry Association, among the prizes of the Japan Bio Venture (sponsored by Nippon Kogyo Shinbun)

GeneCare Research Institute Co., Ltd. (briefly called GeneCare) was founded in December 2000 by seven scientists, including Dr. Yasuhiro Furuichi, then the director of the AGENE Research Institute Co., Ltd. (briefly called AGENE), aiming at commercializing the research products of AGENE, which received investment from the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare (then the Organization for Pharmaceutical Safety and Research) and four domestic pharmaceutical companies, and which terminated its research activity in March 2001.
